Position Descriptions

Campus Greeter/Information Assistant
“How may I help you?” Campus greeters will be stationed throughout campus in order to answer guests’ questions, provide directions to various venues, shuttle stops, and generally assist as needed. Maps, schedules, FAQs, and important contact info will be provided.

Entry Gate Assistant (Gates 1, 2, 4, and 11)
MPP STAFF ONLY. There are four stadium entry gates. Each guest needs a ticket to enter the stadium. MPPs will be paired with UPE students at entry gates to manage the student ticket scanners and assist in resolving issues. MPPs will direct any ticketing issues to the closest ticket help desk. The Entry Gate Assistants will walk the entry line and make sure each guest has a ticket in hand.

Non-Entry Gate Assistant (Gates 3, 7, 8, and 10)
Volunteers at these gates will be directing ticket-holding guests to the entry gates (gates 1, 2, 4 & 11) for admittance. The gates will be dummy locked and in the case of an emergency, Gate Assistants will open the gates and assist with directing EMS personnel and/or a stadium evacuation. Gates 3, 7, 8 & 10 will remain closed during the ceremony and should be opened at conclusion of the ceremony to allow guests to exit. Each volunteer will carry a backpack that includes a megaphone, maps, first-aid kit, and flashlights. The Non-Entry Gate Assistants should remain at their assigned gate for the duration of Commencement.

Pedestrian Walkway Monitor
These volunteers will monitor the track in front of the bleachers on each side of the stadium, keeping the pedestrian path open and safe. The Pedestrian Walkway Monitor should remain on the walkway in the general area assigned.

Stadium Commencement Host
These volunteers are spread throughout the stadium, answering questions, keeping walkways and access lanes clear and monitoring general safety. The Stadium Commencement Host should keep an eye on the bleachers and surrounding areas of the stadium throughout the event and watch for patrons that may need assistance, potential emergencies, and suspicious activity. The Stadium Commencement Host should continuously roam the general area assigned.

ARC Seating Monitor
These volunteers will help Accessibility Resource Center (ARC) seat patrons with disabilities and will monitor the ARC seating areas throughout all ceremonies.
