What: Join us for Round 2 of the 8th Avenue Bridge Painting project!
When: September 18 & 19 from 9am-3pm. Come for as much as you can, just sign up below to let us know when works for you! This event is weather dependent.
Where: Look for the sign-in table set up in the green space at the east end of the 8th Avenue bridge.
Who: We need YOU to come out and help make this project happen. No experience required! This sign up is to give us an idea of how many of you are coming and when.
-When you provide your email address, it will be used only to send you a reminder of when you signed up!
-When you choose a slot, you do not have to stay for that entire length of time. Do what you can!
-You will be assigned to a section of the mural, and supervising volunteers will be around to give you guidance.
-Wear something you don't mind getting dirty! Bring a 1.5-2.5 inch paint brush if you have one, or we'll provide one for you! Under adult supervision, kids are welcome too!
-Masks are welcomed
Set-up Crew: Unload vehicle, set up garbage, set up site according to site map (paint station, sign in table), help organize sign in table and paint station, pre-pour paint, label paint brushes, label the bridge, stir all paint.
Paint Station: Re-pour paint cups as needed, wrap cups and brushes in plastic bag, ensure each person only gets one colour at a time, ensure that kids twelve and under have adult supervision, ensure that all paint colours are being used equally, ensure that volunteers are only selecting shades within their assigned section.
Sign-in Table: Greet volunteers, review the media policy, review the painting process, ask volunteers to check out when they leave, hand out Righteous Coupons.
Bridge Painting: Tape down tarps, tape in design, paint the bridge in accordance with the painting procedure; Saturday is for colour blocking ONLY, Sunday is for stenciling designs.
Paint Wagon: Load wagon with a cup of each colour, walk the bridge with the wagon and exchange colours with painters as needed (one colour at a time).
Helping Artists: Walk the bridge to make sure everyone is following the painting procedure, help painters with taping, suggest colours at transitional places, help with stenciling on Sunday, fix mistakes.
Clean-up Crew: Clean-up site, determine what items to leave overnight (Saturday), take away garbage, load items in vehicle, make sure all paint brushes are wrapped in plastic, pour all excess paint from cups back into paint cans.
