F2023 Ellis Island Simulation Volunteers signup sheet
The Social Studies Department would like to invite you to volunteer for a time honored tradition here at Edison, The Ellis Island Experience. This multi-class simulation challenges our students to role play an immigrant in the year 1908, who attempt to pass inspection as they move along through the halls of Ellis Island. We need your help in order to make it a success! The simulation will take place over a two day period on September 26 - 27, 2023.
Please submit the registration form below by Friday 9/22/23. Typically, we are looking for a three hour commitment. However, if you are available, please feel free to spend the day with us. Please arrive in the library at the listed time below in order to receive your job position and instructions. Dress code is business casual or you can dress in costume as an immigration officer from that time period. You will need to sign in at the office and obtain a visitor parking pass before you come to the Social Studies hall so please allow for enough time to do this. Your student will also receive extra credit in their US History class for your time spent assisting us in making this a memorable event! In fact, for each parent that volunteers for your son or daughter's period, additional extra credit will be given to the entire class. Thank you in advance for your help!
