Have you already served as a Room Parent? Then it’s time to step up and be our Room Parent Coordinator next year!
If you:
Love being the person most connected to what’s happening in the classrooms
Want to play a critical role in ensuring ALL our teachers get the classroom help they need
Are cool with sending weekly emails, attending monthly Board meetings, and organizing quarterly Room Parent meetings
Then this job is for you.
Responsibilities
Sept-Oct: with support from the Board, drive Room Parent recruitment. Some RPs return from the previous year, some will be first timers. Everyone on the Board will pitch in to help if needed!
Weekly: gather and disseminate content for Room Parents to send in classroom updates. Monitor the Room Parent email account and field any questions that may come in from your Room Parents. Delegate on any actions.
Monthly: Prepare content for and participate in (1) Board meeting, 3rd Wednesday evening. Program updates, questions, needs from the Board
Monthly: check in on other Teacher Support volunteers to see how they’re doing – Staff Appreciation, Library Support
Bi-monthly: Prepare content for and participate in (1) General meeting 3rd Wednesday evening.
Quarterly: organize a Room Parent meetup. These are super fun and social! Room Parents love connecting and sharing questions and best practices from their classrooms
Time commitment
Sept-Oct: ~8-10 hours/month for RP recruiting, first Board and General Meetings, and RP Orientation.
Nov-Jun: ~6-8 hours/month for emails, RP, Staff Appreciation, and Library support, Board and General Meetings, RP meetings
