Orientation- This is not mandatory but we will be holding a volunteer orientation on August 13, at 6pm, near the stage at Lewis Park.
For volunteers, Lewis Park is not accessible for those who use wheelchairs, walkers, mobility devices, or who are blind or visually impaired.
We will make every attempt to accommodate volunteer's accessibility needs due to the limitations of the park.
SET UP CREW: Assisting vendor parking, set-up. Need capacity to manage tents and panic. Helping vendors set their booths/tents up, move tables, chairs, and other equipment, ensuring vendors aren’t putting any stakes on the ground, and generally get things looking and feeling ready for the event.
PRIDE INFO BOOTH: We are looking for friendly people to station our Pride in the Park Info Booth where they will be providing information on the event (bathroom locations, performance schedule, etc), what the Pride Society does, and directing people to whatever they are looking for. Supporting lost and found bin, membership signup sheet, taking cash donations we may receive, and answering questions about a new scavenger game.
VENDOR FAIR CREW: Handing out water to thirsty folks, seeing if vendors need anything, give pee breaks to solo vendors.
SEATING CREW: We will have 2 large tents reserved for Elders, those with disabilities, and have small children. We need folks to monitor those areas and make sure that they remain available for those who they are intended for.
BACKSTAGE CREW: Ensuring that our awesome lineup of performers have everything they need, are hydrated, happy, and that they are ready to get on stage according to our schedule. Helping set up or take down equipment on stage as required.
GROUNDS CREW: Keeping Lewis Park clean and picking up garbage & recycling (recycling bins will be available). Checking in at the low sensory area to see if anyone needs anything.
TAKE DOWN CREW: Wow, that sounds tougher than we meant! Helping vendors pack up their booths, moving tables and chairs, helping event organizers to pack up and scoping the park to make sure it is left clean and that we don’t leave anything behind. We need to make sure that loaned tents, chairs, tables, are collected.
INDIGENOUS WOMEN SHARING SOCIETY FOOD CREW: taking direction from women of First Nations Ancestry, helping prep and serve delicious food. Food Safe preferred.
STORY TENT CREW: support story-tellers, remind parents to stay with kids in kids’zone
GUARDIAN OF THE QUEENS: sit at performer tent entrance to ensure privacy and security, provide what is needed. Helping clean-up that area after performances.
FLOATERS / GENERAL VOLUNTEERS: up for anything!
