DYESS WE CARE TEAM TAKES ON A HISTORIC TRANSFORMATION PROJECT FOR YOUTH VOICE FACILITY

The Dyess We Care Team is proud to announce its latest community-driven initiative: the restoration and transformation of the historic Youth Voice facility, which originally served as Abilene's first fire station. This building, steeped in history, now serves as a beacon of hope and support for at-risk and homeless teens, offering a safe and nurturing after-school environment. Our mission is to breathe new life into this cherished facility, ensuring it continues to be a haven for the youth of Abilene for years to come.

The Project: More Than Just a Fresh Coat of Paint
This isn’t just a renovation—it’s a labor of love and dedication. Volunteers from The Dyess We Care Team will undertake a comprehensive makeover of the Youth Voice facility, including:

Prepping and Painting: We'll start with a complete cleaning and prep, followed by vibrant, fresh paint to revitalize the facility.
Electrical Work: Bringing the building up to modern standards with electrical repairs and updates for safety and functionality.
Building a Stage: A brand-new stage will provide a platform for teens to express themselves through music, theater, and other creative outlets.
Wall Murals: Local artists will join forces with our volunteers to create inspiring, youth-centric murals that reflect the spirit of hope and empowerment.

Why This Project Matters
The Youth Voice facility provides a critical lifeline for teens facing challenges many of us can only imagine. From homework help to emotional support, this facility ensures that every teen who walks through its doors has the chance to thrive. By restoring and enhancing this space, we’re helping to create an environment where these young individuals can feel safe, valued, and inspired.

Join Us in Making a Difference
This project embodies the heart of what The Dyess We Care Team stands for: bringing people together to make an impactful difference in our community. Volunteers, sponsors, and community members are invited to join us in this effort—whether by lending a helping hand or simply cheering us on.

Together, we’ll honor the rich history of Abilene’s first fire station while paving the way for a brighter future for the teens who rely on the Youth Voice facility. Stay tuned for updates as we take on this exciting transformation!
