Come lend a hand to our local Westslope Cutthroat fisheries!
On Saturday, Oct.30th, from 9:30 am -1:30 pm, the Clark Fork Coalition will wrap up their second major restoration project in the Miller Creek watershed. This project, near the confluence of Bear Run and Miller Creeks, addresses large eroding banks, increases floodplain connectivity, improves aquatic habitat complexity, and facilitates the recovery of a native riparian community.
We need volunteers to help us put the final touches on this 1/4 mile restoration project. Volunteers will plant containerized riparian tree and construct riparian exclosures closures to protect new plants from wildlife browse.
This is the second project in a series of main-stem Miller Creek treatments aimed at improving natural stream function, enhancing fish habitat for the genetical pure resident populations, and addressing the creek’s TMDLs for temperature and sediment. The project has been made possible by the Montana DEQ 319 Program, Future Fisheries Improvement Program, and West Slope Cutthroat Chapter of Trout Unlimited.
Please sign-up to volunteer here: volunteersignup.org/WQP44. We’ll be sending around information regarding weather, what to bring, and how to get there, closer to this volunteer day. For question about this project, please contact the Clark Fork Coalition Volunteer Coordinator, volunteer@clarkfork.org.
