Join Friends of Shelby, the Southeastern Grasslands Institute, and Nashville's local Ben & Jerry's store on Saturday, April 18th for a community volunteer day at the Cornelia Fort Airpark! With the upcoming grassland restoration of the Airpark, Friends of Shelby is working to prepare the site with a combined litter pick-up and invasive plant removal.
From 9 AM - 12 PM, we'll be working to remove old farm debris from the northwest corner of the Airpark. This will include lifting heavy items and taking them to a nearby dumpster. Other volunteers will be working to remove invasive plants with landscaping tools to give our friends at SGI a clear plot of land to begin their work on.
Nashville's local Ben & Jerry's store will be handing out free scoops of ice cream for volunteers to say thank you for lending a helping hand! Thank you to the Vanderbilt store for your support!
Once you sign up, you'll receive information the week of the event with details on parking, what to wear, weather, and more. Please reach out to cd@friendsofshelby.org with any questions you may have. Thank you for your support!
