This summer, United Way of Northern Nevada and the Sierra (UWNNS) is distributing thousands of books to local children to encourage summer reading and learning! We are making sure children have access to books in order to stop the summer slide, which is the loss of reading skills during the summer months. UWNNS needs volunteers like you to help us prepare books and assemble them into our Summer Book Bags!
Address:
639 Isbell Rd Suite 460
Reno, NV 89509
(Take elevator to the 4th floor, UWNNS office is directly to the right after exiting elevator)
Volunteer Shifts and Tasks:
Sort and Label Summer Books – Volunteers will help prepare books to get them ready for assembly. This includes counting books, labeling each book with a sticker, organizing books onto tables.
Assemble Summer Book Bags – Volunteers will put together books in an assembly style set-up and organize completed Book Bags into boxes based on specific quantities. Quantities are broken down by school and classroom size to prepare Book Bags for delivery.
Further instructions will be to be shared during volunteer shift. Please direct any questions to Isabelle at isabelle.cecilio@uwnns.org or 408.966.2849.
