Reading Promise 2023: Packing Weeks signup sheet

We are getting ready for our 4th annual Reading Promise Week and we need YOUR help! Each fall the Read by 4th campaign organizes a family literacy festival. This year we have over 70 community events taking place between October 7 and 15th and we plan on distributing 12,000 family literacy bags and over 15,000 children's books to communities across our city. In order to accomplish this we need your helping hands!

This year we have partnered with our wonderful friends at Share Food Program (2901 W Hunting Park Ave) and they will be hosting us for our volunteer packing week and pick-up week. During both weeks we will have volunteers sorting materials, packing literacy bags, sorting and packing boxes of children's books, and prepping kits for our community event hosts. Water and snacks will be made available to volunteers. During Pick-Up Week our bag packing slows a little and we will also start helping load up vehicles with their all their books and bags. A few things to note:
- minimum age for the warehouse is 13 years old, all volunteers under 18 must have a chaperone
- you should be able to lift items up to 35 lbs
- masks are optional but will be available to those who want them
- sneakers / boots are preferable. Soft shoes such as Uggs or Crocs are not allowed
