Dyess We Care Team VFW Renovation Project
For generations, the Veterans of Foreign Wars has stood as more than just a building—it is a sanctuary. A place where stories are shared, burdens are set down, and no veteran stands alone. The VFW represents sacrifice, service, and the unbreakable bond between those who have worn the uniform and the nation they defended.
Now, it’s our turn to serve them.
The Dyess We Care Team is proud to take on a multi-weekend renovation of our local VFW—an investment not just in a facility, but in the men and women who rely on it. This space supports combat veterans, active-duty service members, and military families. It hosts meetings, remembrance ceremonies, peer support, and moments of healing that will continue long after the paint dries and the tools are packed away.
This project is about legacy.
It’s about ensuring that when a veteran walks through those doors—today or twenty years from now—they feel honored, welcomed, and remembered.
We will be working over several weekends with two shifts each day:
Morning Shift: 0900
Afternoon Shift: 1300
If you want to put in a full day of service, we encourage you to sign up for both shifts. For those working both, lunch will be provided—our way of taking care of the team that’s taking care of our veterans.
This mission will be led by two outstanding Airmen who embody service before self:
A1C Justin Pashak
A1C Shayne Comegno
They will be on site ensuring the project runs smoothly and that every volunteer knows their work matters—because it does.
This renovation will stand for years as a visible reminder that our military community does not forget its own. If you’ve ever benefited from the freedoms secured by those who served, this is your chance to give something tangible back.
Let’s roll up our sleeves.
Let’s honor the flag by serving the people who defended it.
Let’s leave the VFW better than we found it—together. 🇺🇸
