Join Textile Center and Weavers' Guild staff members and other volunteers at Northern Spark 2017 Saturday, June 10th 8:59 pm - Sunday, June 11th 5:29 am
From sunset on June 10 to sunrise on June 11, Northern Spark is a free all-night art festival exploring the effects of climate change through participatory
projects in the neighborhoods along the Metro Transit Green Line.
Five other groups will be presenting in the space; the project is in partnership with the Weisman Art Museum whose Production Team will be onsite all night.
Textile Center and Weavers’ Guild of MN are partnering to present “Lawn-a-Loom: Weaving out of Waste.” The project will be located on the Coffman Memorial Union Lawn at the University of Minnesota campus, creating an environmental loom.
It’s easy for all ages and any artistic ability – participants are invited to bring their own materials – volunteers will help festival participants weave with discarded textiles and yarn, plastic bags, and more! The finished product will be displayed at Textile Center.
