We are SO delighted that you are interested in volunteering at this year's carnival (or carnivals)! Our camps take place at Heartland Retreat Center in Parkville, Mo.
Upon your arrival, someone will guide you to the possible activities and will answer any questions you might have. You will find all needed materials as well as an instruction sheet for the activity you will oversee. Examples of the activities include: yard games, trivia questions, cookie decorating, and other traditional carnival activities. Although there will be light snacks and water provided, you will most likely want to eat prior to due to the length of the carnival.
A few things to keep in mind...
Station 1 will be located INSIDE and will involve overseeing carnival type games.
Station 2 will be located OUTSIDE and will involve overseeing carnival type games.
Station 3 will be located OUTSIDE and will involve directing traffic / providing general oversight for the Video Game Cart and Special Character appearances. The Video Game Cart will have staff onsite as well, but will remain inside the video truck.
If it happens to rain, we will still host the carnival yet will move to all indoor or sheltered locations for the activities.
If you plan to bring your child and he or she is not old enough to oversee an activity completely on his or her own, please know that he or she will need to serve as a volunteer with you and remain at your assigned station until the close of the carnival activities. This is EXTREMELY important and is due to liability and safety reasons.
Should you have any trouble finding (or should anything change), feel free to call or text Laura Bellis at 816.263.2374 or Aimee Gorrow at 816.419.7196.
The campers really enjoy this time at camp and it couldn't take place if it weren't for the kind volunteers that assist. Thank YOU for being one of the important reasons we can provide this opportunity to these amazing campers on the autism spectrum! We look forward to seeing you there!
Confirmation will be sent your way prior to the carnival. PLEASE BE WATCHING YOUR EMAIL (as it will include information about safety procedures and a form that will need to be submitted prior to arriving).
