Birthday Buddies - Boys Town North Florida signup sheet
Thank you for volunteering to be a Boys Town Birthday Buddy! Once you sign up to sponsor the special day of our Boys Town youth, we'll email you within 3 business days to confirm.
Birthday Buddies are a small but mighty group of volunteers who provide all the makings of an extra-special birthday party for the boys and girls who live at Boys Town North Florida’s Family Home campus, in Tallahassee near Hartsfield Road. The Boys Town Family Home Program is our Core Program and the heart of our efforts to help children. The campus is much like a village neighborhood with five family-style homes. The youth living in each home receive structured guidance and care from professionally trained, live-in couples called Family Home Teachers, who are their primary caregivers along with Assistant Family Teachers.
As a Birthday Buddy, you’ll provide the following items. We estimate the total sponsorship cost for a Birthday Buddy is approximately $125.
1. Cake and Candles (about 20 servings)
2. Party Plates / Napkins
3. Decorations
4. Birthday Card
5. Birthday Gift (please limit gifts to a max of $50 to $75 so there is equity among children in each home)
About a month prior to the youth’s birthday, you’ll receive Youth's Wish List which includes their theme or favorite color, etc., favorite cake flavor, top three (3) gift wishes for you to choose from, along with the delivery date/time and address of the Boys Town home. We encourage Birthday Buddies to reach out about a week prior to touch base and confirm the delivery date and time with the Family Home Teachers. Their contact information (phone and email) will also be provided when you receive the youth’s wish list. They’ll be very happy to hear from you!
The birthday boys and girls, and his/her Family Teachers look forward to Birthday Buddy deliveries so they can meet our wonderful Birthday Buddy volunteers in person. Although it’s from a social distance these days, they’re happy to say hello and are thankful for your support. Speaking of thanks, our Birthday Buddies also receive Thank You cards from their sponsored youth. I’ll email you individually to request your mailing address. These are mailed from our administrative office and your address is not shared with any youth, staff (other than me), or solicitation lists. I PROMISE!
