When school is in session, Green Lake Elementary opens its doors to a rich variety of local organizations who provide fun and engaging after-school activities like parkour, cooking, Pokémon, coding, basketball, sewing, chess, and MORE. Our teachers and staff are done for the day, and they’ve headed home, so our vendors and our students need someone onsite to make sure programs run safely and smoothly.
This position is so important that we offer a small stipend of $25/hr PLUS one free enrichment class for your student each quarter, paid by the PTA. Ideally, we’ll split the role between 2 or more people according to their availability, so you only do the days that work for you.
The ideal fit for this role would be someone who can reliably commit to being at the school in the afternoons at least one day a week for the ~10 weeks we have classes running each quarter.
Responsibilities:
SETUP:
Arrive at the school 15 minutes before the bell rings at the end of the day to set up tables in the cafeteria for each class, so the kids know where to meet after dismissal.
CHECK IN:
Help take attendance for the classes to make sure kids are in the right spot. If there is a child missing, you'll follow up with the office to see if they were absent. If a student is missing, text and email the parent to ask if they were picked up, or to let them know that the student is on their way home instead.
DURING PROGRAMS:
Hang out by the front doors to help any parents coming to pick their kids up early. You'll also be on-hand to help if a class needs an extra adult.
AFTER PROGRAMS END:
Stay until all children are picked up. Document all late pick-ups (10min or later) and notify the Enrichment Coordinator.
Optional: When all vendors and students have left, lead a walking school bus to Cedar Crossing to see students safely home.
Time Commitment:
2 hours once a week (you're always welcome to do more than one day a week!) during the weeks after-school classes are running.
Arrive 15 minutes before the end of the school day, and leave when classes end and all kids are picked up. There's also the possibility of walking kids home to Cedar Crossing (time that you'll also be paid for) but this is on a case-by-case basis and if it's not something you want or are able to do someone else can pick that part up.
We'll do our best to split the work up so it’s not all you; please reach out to express your interest and we’ll set up a schedule that works for you!
PTA support:
The After School Enrichment Program Coordinator will support and oversee this role, to ensure the On-Site Coordinators have what they need in order to be successful.
