Join the Butte Food Co-Op for another food-focused community service event this month!
We will be working alongside the United Way of Butte - Anaconda to help provide ingredients for and assemble soup bags for the Butte Emergency Food Bank.
“Stone Soup” is a European folk tale about a group of hungry travelers who convince a town's people to share their food to make a meal. The story teaches the value of sharing and cooperation…and how working together (cooperatively!) can yield powerful results for a community (and for access to good food).
Each volunteer should sign up to bring one to three of the items listed. Each volunteer slot includes the amount of the item. For example, we have three volunteer slots to bring 17 cups of dried split peas each for the soup (for a total of ~50 cups for the entire recipe). If you want to purchase locally and in - bulk our friends at Dancing Rainbow carry bulk spices, lentils, barley, rice and split peas!
The event will take place February 21st, 2025 at 6PM at the IBRC (68 W. Park Street, Butte, MT 59701). There is plenty of street parking in and around the IBRC.
If you are no longer able to volunteer, please let us know ASAP. We are counting on volunteers to help assemble bags and bring several ingredients so it's important we know ahead of time if you cannot make it so we can plan ahead. Our goal is to complete 100 bags of soup mix for those in need.
