Youth for Troops is honored to hold flags and support the PGR Pony Express Mission to carry Sergeant Lyons from Arizona to Michigan as we show him and his family our gratitude and respect for his incredible service not just to this nation but his community.

Please wear patriotic colors or Youth for Troops shirts. Flags are provided. Flags will line up from 6:45 - 7:15 AM.

About the Mission:
James Lyons III served this nation proudly in the United States Marine Corps. James Lyons III attained the rank of Sergeant, and received many commendations including the Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Global War on Terror Medal, the Expert Rifle Qualification Badge (3) and the Expert Pistol Qualification Badge (2). Sergeant Lyons received special training as a Special Reaction Team Marksman Observer (Phase 2), Methods of Entry and Military Police Training. Sergeant Lyons was also a member of the Special Reaction Team (SRT, Phase 1) and was a Non-Lethal Weapons Instructor.

Sergeant Lyons served in the Military Police for over 4 years and was a Special Reaction Team Member for over 2 years. Sergeant Lyons was also in the Marine Corps Martial Arts Program with a Brown Belt. Sergeant Lyons was released from Active Duty in 2017 from his last duty station at Marine Corps Base Kaneohe Bay, known as “K-Bay”.

After his Honorable Discharge, Sergeant Lyons went to work for the Federal Bureau of Prisons in Phoenix Arizona. Sergeant Lyons leaves behind a wife, 9 year old daughter, 7 year old daughter and 3 month old baby.

The Patriot Guard Riders shall have the honor of providing a Pony Express Mission to carry Sergeant Lyons from Arizona to Michigan as we show him and his family our gratitude and respect for his incredible service not just to this nation but his community.

At his Military Honors in Michigan, it shall also be our honor to stand in silent reverence to show our respect and gratitude to Sergeant James Lyons III for his service for our country as well as the community.
