The Mono Nordic Ski Club and The Town of Mono are proud to host Family Day on Monday February 17, 2025
* We are hoping experienced members will step up to be Captains and mentor members who are to new to Volunteering.
* NEW TO VOLUNTEERING ....Find a task that interests you and Click on the green arrow on the right and you will be taken to a sign up sheet. The task is described at the top left corner of the page.
Remember, to QUALIFY FOR A REDUCED VOLUNTEER MEMBERSHIP IN 2025-2026, you must volunteer during the 2024-2025 season for a total of 4 hours per individual member or 8 hours per member family. If there are no remaining time slots, consider volunteering at the pavilion one Saturday or Sunday in February or trail work in the fall.
*This is a well planned event that is looking for several individuals to work with several Board Members to Organize and co-ordinate this event.
*Assortment of tasks listed below.
*Event Organizers: Organizers Duties: Act as liaison with Volunteers. Contact and converse with Town liaison. Secure Waiver documents from the board. Confirm set up completed the day before. Confirm with Martin Family and Town of Mono contact person for Cider hut supplies, i.e. cider, marshmallows. 2 Donation boxes, one for registration table, second for Cider Hut. Check with Ski Services for signage currently available.
*Parking: See map for optimal parking. "Ask guests to minimize space between cars."
*Greeters Duties: Welcome guests and members, inform about being "non profit and volunteer run, 2 hour ski, set phone alarm, Google trail map to determine their location." Also ask, "Where are you coming from?"
*Guest sign-in: Duties: Have guests sign in on the Family Ski Day liability form, Inform them of "Washrooms in lower pavilion, and cement building by the gazebo, beginner lessons outside."
*Boot rentals: Duties: Use sizing chart, Distribute ski boots. Inform guests "Clean snow off boots/ski before entering building, TRAIL ETIQUETTE... Try not to damage the trail, classic tracks, If you need to take off your skis, walk single file on the edge of the trail."
*Ski & Pole rentals: Duties: Distribute skis and poles, demonstrate how to put boots on ski, show them Beginner Ski options on map and/or how to make it to Cider Hut/Fire Pit for cider and marshmallow.
*Cider Pit: Duties: Help make and serve hot apple cider, marshmallows . Donations to Racing team welcomed.
*Basic Skill Lesson: Duties: demonstrate basic skills/technique to a group of beginners. Demonstrations offered hourly on the 1/2 hour.
*Tour Guides: All members are asked to be a host when skiing and assist guests with trail choices.
