Summertime, and the livin’ is easy - especially for grass. Less easy for wee trees who are trying to compete with the grass to get established. They need your help! Come along for a fun volunteering session at the farm to give the saplings some care - jobs including weeding the grass, mulching with woodchip, and checking guards and stakes. Please join us if you can - sign up below...
*Meeting place*
The portacabin in the farmyard entrance - the one with the painted 'welcome' sign - through the South Gate of the farm at the back of the Toby Carvery car park.

Lothian Buses 16, 27, 29, 37 & 47 all stop within five minutes of the farm and there is a large bike rack in the farmyard.
Please use public transport, walk, wheel or cycle to get to the farm if you can. There is no public car parking on the farm.
*Weather & Clothing*
Please dress for windy north Edinburgh! Sturdy footwear is helpful for comfort and safety - but you don’t need specialist equipment or gear. We go ahead in most weathers (but keep an eye on your emails if there are weather warnings). We supply gloves and any tools.
*Facilities and Accessibility Notes*
There is a single cubicle, gender-neutral, spacious and level access composting toilet in the Community Allotments for volunteers to use.
We don’t have a cafe on site. We do offer volunteers teas or coffee and biscuits at the end of the session, but you might want to bring a snack to keep you going.
Tree care sessions involve a bit of walking and a lot of bending (back and knees). We will be walking across the farm fields to get to the trees, which are rough and sloping, and can be muddy. We mostly use our hands and sometimes hand tools - no power tools. There is no need to do any heavy lifting, and no need to rush. We encourage you to go at your own pace and take breaks - we want it to be a fun experience!
If you have any accessibility questions, please email info@lauristonfarm.org
