On Thursday, May 16th, HBL will be hosting a bike valet parking station at UH Mānoa for the "Paved Paradise: How Parking Explains the World" lecture by Henry Grabar. More details about the lecture are available here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/henry-grabar-paved-paradise-tickets-877621077267
The volunteer arrival/departure times for this event are 6:00pm - 8:30pm. This lecture will be at the Architecture Auditorium (ARCH205) on 1899 University Avenue #1859 Honolulu, HI 96822. Our bike valet station will be located outside of the building on the campus lawn.
Bike valet shifts are simple. They typically involve in-taking bikes, writing down people's info on their valet tag, making sure to give them back the correct bike, and spreading the goodness of bicycling! Bike valet volunteers should be able to lift a bike (about 20lbs) and place it on the bike rack. For heavier bikes and e-bikes we recommend parking them free-standing or leaned against a secure structure instead of lifting and hanging them on the bike rack.
HBL will provide a tent and chairs for you to kick back in, but still bring water and and a warm layer for the evening temperature drop. Snacks will be provided. If you have a HBL volunteer shirt, please wear it to you shift! If you do not have one, please write your t-shirt size next to your name (XS, S, M, L, XL, 2XL, 3XL), and we'll get you a new volunteer shirt for the event.
