Volunteer to Sort Christmas Gifts for Foster & Kinship Children signup sheet

ABOUT OUR NON-PROFIT:
The Wardrobe: Treasure Valley is a local nonprofit dedicated to providing free clothing and essentials to foster and kinship* children throughout the Treasure Valley. Each year, we also host a Christmas Program to make sure the children we serve have something special waiting for them on Christmas morning. For many, these gifts are the only presents they receive during the holidays.

Through the Christmas Program, children are invited to submit their Christmas wishlists, and we work hard to fulfill their requests as closely as possible (within reason).

*Kinship care refers to children being raised by someone other than their biological parents. Most often, this is a grandparent or great-grandparent, but it can also be an aunt, uncle, sibling, cousin, or family friend. Because most kinship placements are not formally facilitated through Health & Welfare, these children do not qualify for foster care stipends. Many caregivers are on a fixed income or managing medical challenges, making outside support especially important.

Last year, we were able to fulfill over 250 wishlists—and with growing need, we anticipate serving even more children this year.

VOLUNTEER EVENT DETAILS:
We need many helping hands to sort the Christmas gifts we receive for foster and kinship children.

Each child typically receives 4–5 gifts (an outfit, an additional clothing item, and 2–3 non-clothing items). Every gift is labeled with a code that matches it to a specific child.

Volunteers will help organize the gifts by code and then pack them into a bag for each child to ensure every wishlist is complete and ready for delivery.

EVENT ADDRESS:
River Valley Church

Boise, ID 83706

EVENT DATES:
Thursday - 12/11/2025
AND/OR
Friday - 12/12/2025

EVENT SHIFTS:
Each volunteer shift is 2 hours long.

You’re welcome to sign up for one shift—or as many as you’d like!

Please help us spread the word by sharing this event with friends, family, and anyone who may be interested. The more helping hands we have, the bigger impact we can make!

Is there an age limit for volunteers? We don't necessarily have an age limit for volunteers. All we ask is that they are able and willing to complete the tasks. They would need to be able to read codes and compare codes that are attached to the gifts to match them to the correct codes. We request that minors under 15 years old are accompanied by an adult during the shift.
