Coming up on June 6th is Pride in the Park, a celebration of Pride in the LGBTQIA2S+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer/Questioning, Intersex, Asexual/Agender, Two-Spirit, +) Community at Volunteer Park in Seattle, WA! The Arc of King County has been invited to host the Neurodiversity Social Zone & The Low Sensory Area - an accessible space for people with and without disabilities. The space will include 2 tents with several tables, fun activities, blankets to lay out in the grass, and an Arc resource table with information and support for folks attending the event. Pride in the Park runs from 12pm - 7pm. We will be there as early as 9am and as late as 7:30pm, setting up and breaking down.
Pride in the Park is a high energy event with A LOT of people in attendance. Expect that traffic and parking will be incredibly difficult on this day. We suggest Uber/Lyft, or using public transportation for this event.
"Seattle Pride in the Park, produced by Seattle Pride®, will kick off Seattle’s 52nd annual Pride Month celebration on Saturday, June 6 at Volunteer Park on Capitol Hill.
Seattle Pride in the Park will feature a can’t-miss lineup of LGBTQIA2S+ performances, a dance-focused stage with an adjacent alcohol garden (21+), food trucks, local nonprofit booths, queer vendors, and more.
The free event also includes plenty of family friendly fare – including Drag Queen Storytime – and a teen space designed and hosted by youth in a collaborative internship between Seattle's LGBTQ Center and Seattle Pride.
Accessibility accommodations, such as priority seating, ASL interpreters, ADA restrooms, and designated assistants to support individuals in accessing food and beverages will be available."
Please select one or multiple shifts. If you are unable to be there for the full shift, please reach out to Jeff Barnes at jbarnes@arcofkingcounty.org to provide information about the timeframe you can help!
THIS VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY IS PAID FOR THE ARC OF KING COUNTY STAFF, CONFIRM WITH YOUR SUPERVISOR PRIOR TO SIGNING UP.
