Water Safety Ambassadors are volunteer community members stationed at popular swim locations to distribute lifejackets, provide water safety education, gather basic water quality data, and facilitate beach cleanups. Anyone age 12+ can volunteer as a water safety ambassador.
What you will do: (1) Take water temperature readings; (2) distribute lifejackets and safety whistles to visitors; (3) conduct site safety assessments and talk with visitors about water safety; (4) facilitate beach cleanups and talk with visitors about water stewardship.
What you get: Volunteers receive a WaterStrong t-shirt, swim cap, light snacks, gift cards of appreciation, indelible feeling of connection and joy with the water and our communities. Volunteers also receive discount access to WaterStrong offerings of Red Cross certification in Adult & Pediatric First Aid CPR AED and/or Lifeguarding & Waterfront Skills.
