Tree Planting - Help us plant our latest Agroforestry Strips signup sheet

Help plant a mix of native species in our agroforestry area. Agroforestry = a way of farming that includes trees to improve crop growth and soil health.

As well as helping crops to grow, the trees will support more pollinators and birds coming onto the farm. They will also provide us with a source of ramial (small branch) woodchip for enhancing soil health, and can be coppiced for timber for use on the farm. Coppicing is an ancient way of managing woodland which provides timber while encouraging tree growth. We can chat more about all this as we plant - join us if you can - sign up below...

*Access Notes*
We will be working in the Market Garden area of the farm. The ground is rough and we will mostly be on grass and soil, not paths. This session will include quite a lot of walking and bending. No heavy lifting needed. Please contact us if you have any access questions or requests on info@lauristonfarm.org

*Travel and Directions*
The address is Lauriston Farm Road, Edinburgh EH4 5EX.

The main entrance is through the farmyard at the back of the Toby Carvery car park. The Market Garden is on the west side of the farm, around 15-20 minute walk across the fields from the farmyard.

Please use public transport, walk, wheel or cycle to get to the farm whenever possible.

Lothian Buses 16, 27, 29, 37 & 47 all stop within 5 minutes of the farm and there is a bike rack in the farmyard, and in the Market Garden.

If you cycle to the Market Garden, please don't try doing a right turn off Cramond Road South onto the farm - it's on a blind corner of a fast road. Cycle onwards to the nearby roundabout, and come back and to get a left turn onto the farm

Please note there is no public car parking on the farm.

Weather & Clothing

Please dress for windy north Edinburgh! Sturdy footwear is helpful for comfort and safety - but you don’t need specialist equipment or gear. We go ahead in most weathers (but keep an eye on your emails if there are weather warnings).
