Young Friends of Shelby Volunteer Day - Invasive Plant Removal (SAT May 16th, 9-11:30 AM) signup sheet

Join Young Friends of Shelby for our first volunteer event of 2026! Young Friends of Shelby (YFS) is a new group for park lovers aged 25-39 who want to connect, give back, and have a little fun along the way. Whether you're up for a volunteer day, a group hike, or just grabbing a drink after work, YFS is a chance to meet new people and support the place we all love—Shelby Park & Bottoms.

At this volunteer event, we'll be joining the efforts of the Restore the Forest program, which works to remove invasive plants from the forests in Shelby Park. By removing these plants, we'll make room for native plants and trees to thrive in their place, and also make hiking trails more accessible and welcoming for our neighbors to use.

All tools, gloves, and safety goggles will be provided by Friends of Shelby staff, and we'll train you on how to identify the plants and use the tools (no experience required)! Once you sign up, an email with information on parking, weather, and more will be sent to you the week of the event.

Any questions can be directed to cd@friendsofshelby.org. Hope to see you out there!
