SPECIAL NOTE: This event will center around the City of Houston's planting of TWENTY-FIVE HUNDRED trees in Watonga Park in celebration of Earth Day in our fair city! Given the general neighborhood scale and long-term impact of this event, we want to be out there in force to encourage more of this kind of activity throughout our city! Please join us in this celebration!
EVENT: City of Houston's Earth Day HTX event @ Watonga Park
WHEN: Monday, April 22, 2024 @ 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. (Actual Event Run Time: 3:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.)
WHERE: Watonga Park, 4100 Watonga Boulevard, Houston, TX 77092 (Near the intersection of De Milo Drive)
SERVICE: Volunteers will assist with the initial setup, staffing and ultimate breakdown of a GCTMN booth which will serve as a place of outreach focus for our chapter during this City of Houston hosted event to help event attendees better understand and appreciate the environment for Earth Day 2024. The Apache Corporation has generously funded the planting of TWENTY-FIVE HUNDRED trees during the event! The messaging of our booth for this year's event will be to provide general information about our Master Naturalist chapter and how attendees can get more involved in natural resource stewardship and sustainability in our community. Further, information about the State's Texas Master Naturalist program and the role of informed volunteers in our mission will be shared. Our booth will be outdoors, so please plan to bring your hat, sunscreen and a folding chair.
