VOLUNTEER POSITION DUTIES
We are looking for fun, friendly and responsible volunteers to help us with the Summer Sizzler Rodeo two-day event July 11 & 12 2026!
SATURDAY EVENTS OPEN
GATES: 10:00am
CONCESSION: 10:00am
KIDS RODEO: 11:00am-12:00pm
KIDS ZONE: 11:00am - 5:00 pm
RODEO PERFORMANCE: 2:00pm - 4:30pm
STEAK SUPPER: 5:00pm - 6:30pm
COMBINE CRUNCH: 6:30pm
DANCE +18 8:30pm - 2:00am
SUNDAY EVENTS OPEN:
GATES: 8:00am
CONCESSION: 7:00am
KIDS ZONE: 11:00am - 5:00pm
RODEO PERFORMANCE: 1:00pm - 3:30pm
COMBINE CRUNCH: 4:00pm
We ask all Volunteers to please arrive 15 min prior to your shift start, so you can sign in at the Volunteer Tent and receive your Volunteer Package.
The 15-minute crossover of the shift is to allow for a smooth transition with the volunteer being relieved.
Please remember volunteer under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult at all times during their shift.
VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR: Welcomes volunteers, gets them signed in, makes sure they understand their duties and direct them to their area location.
GROUNDS KEEPER: Ensure to keep all the grounds tidy by picking up garbage, emptying garbage and recycling bins regularly
Full garbage bags to be placed inside the dumpster and full recycle bags beside the dumpster in a separate pile.
Check porta-potties for toilet paper and paper towel stocking. Any questions see the Volunteer Coordinator
AREA MANAGERS ARE IN EACH OF THE AREAS TO ASSIST WITH ANY ISSUES/QUESTIONS
ADMISSION GATES: We have three gates, Front, Combine Crunch and Contestant Gates.
Direct all incoming volunteers to the volunteer tent located by the Front Gate. Security will be available to assist Volunteers working after 8:00pm
FRONT & COMBINE CRUNCH GATES- Ensure everyone pays appropriate ticket fee and the volunteer must check drivers license or ID each patron to ensure appropriate wrist band is applied. (NOTE: The Combine Crunch Gate is only for Stock Contractors, Combine Crunch Crew and River Valley VIP Sponsor.
CONTESTANT GATE - This gate is ONLY for Rodeo Contestants. Volunteers will check for appropriate wristbands.
BARTENDER: We have three bar areas, Main, VIP, Combine Crunch
Duties include pouring the spirit drinks with a measuring glass in front of the patron and they will serve themselves from the provided pop, ice and water table.
Volunteers must open all canned alcoholic beverages prior to passing to the patron.
VIP BARTENDER: Host VIPS and Serve Drinks in the VIP area (only to those patrons)
LIQUOR TICKET SALES: Sell liquor tickets to patrons. ID any patron who you may feel to be underage.
Use discretion if you feel as though people should no longer be consuming alcohol- talk with the area manager or security to deal with any issues.
Volunteers working in the Bar areas are responsible for keeping the bar, ice and mix tables stocked and clean (work with the bar runner for stock level assistance)
Ensure picnic tables in the area are clean and pick up any garbage.
Use discretion if you feel people should no longer be consuming alcohol- talk with the area manager or security to deal with any issues.
BAR RUNNER: Working with bartenders, ensure there is always adequate stock in all three bars to keep up with demand.
Clean up tables of garbage throughout the shift, and wipe down tables if required.
Check Porta-Potties to ensure toilet paper and paper towels are stocked. Work with Groundskeepers.
KIDS RODEO: Volunteers assist with event set-up, contestant registration, pinning numbers, handing out prizes and providing support as required by the manager.
KIDS ZONE: Volunteers to Supervise the areas assigned to them by the area manager and will ensure the safety of the children using them.
The bouncy castles must be supervised at all times.
STEAK SUPPER: Includes two areas Preparation and Serve/Clean-up:
Preparation: This involves setting up the serving area with tables, tablecloths, paper plates, plastic utensils, napkins, serving bowls, and serving utensils.
Volunteers will assist with food preparation as directed by the area manager and are responsible for keeping the area clean throughout.
Serve and Clean-Up: Volunteers will be assigned to a position as instructed by the area manager during the serving period.
Once serving is complete volunteers will clean up the area, take down and store tables, and wash and put away all dishes.
CONCESSION: Volunteers will report to the concession manager who will assign you to your position and advise you of your duties.
Volunteers must ensure the work area is kept clean, help with washing dishes, food preparation and serving (hot food must be kept hot, cold must be kept cold)
Take out garbage if required, sweep floor, etc.
