Volunteer at BN-Pridefest 2026

Thank you for helping make BN-Pridefest possible!

Pridefest welcomes more than 10,000 people to downtown Bloomington, and volunteers are essential to creating a safe, welcoming, and joyful event for the LGBTQ+ community and our allies.

Volunteers receive a Pridefest T-shirt, water during their shift, clear instructions, and an assigned staff contact. T-shirts will be distributed at volunteer check-in.

Volunteer Roles
Guest Welcome and Exit Team
Help greet guests and monitor event exits. Volunteers may sit or stand and are welcome to bring a chair.
Your main responsibility is reminding guests that alcoholic beverages must remain inside the Pridefest area. This is not a security role. Do not argue, confront anyone, or place yourself in an unsafe situation. Contact event staff or onsite police if assistance is needed.

Street Support Team
Walk an assigned area, answer guest questions, check on volunteers at barricades, provide water or bathroom breaks, and report concerns to event staff.

Stage Support Team
Help keep stage entrances, exits, and backstage areas clear and accessible for performers and event staff.
This is a stage-support role, not a bouncer position.

Festival Care Crew
Work with a partner to pick up litter, replace full trash bags, and move bags to a central disposal area.
Gloves, bags, and water will be provided. This role requires the ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds. Please wear comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes.

Event Setup Crew
Help place tables, chairs, barricades, signs, and other equipment before Pridefest begins. Volunteers may also help direct arriving vendors.
Setup begins shortly after the streets close at noon. Please arrive on time and be prepared to work outdoors, walk, and lift up to 25 pounds. Water will be provided.

Tear Down and Cleanup Crew
Help remove equipment, barricades, signs, and trash after the event.
Cleanup will happen in stages, with final breakdown of North Main Street and the main stage beginning around 10:30 p.m. Our goal is to clear the event area by 11:00 p.m.
Please wear comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes.

Volunteer Safety
Volunteers are never expected to act as security, physically intervene, or place themselves in harm’s way.
Observe, communicate, and contact your assigned staff liaison or onsite Bloomington Police Department personnel when help is needed. Call 911 in an emergency.

Thank you for helping us create a Pridefest that is safe, clean, welcoming, and full of joy.
Please share the signup link and consider volunteering with a friend.

Happy Pride!
