Spring Show Volunteer Job Descriptions (Scroll down to sigh up).
The various jobs of the art show are not complex. At their most basic level they require friendly interaction with the show visitors. Below are general descriptions of what each area of volunteer work includes. There will be support staff present to help with any questions or uncertainties that volunteers may have concerning their tasks.
Loading and Unloading the Truck: Our equipment for shows is kept in a storage unit. These tasks include transfer of that equipment to and from the show location via rental truck. Lifting of up to about 20 lbs. is required.
Set-up and Take-Down: These tasks involve unpacking and packing the art panels, assembling them, and positioning them in the show space. Lifting of up to about 20 lbs. is required.
Check-in and Check-out: These tasks require following procedures and filling out forms for the receipt and dismissal of artwork. Procedures and forms will be available. The Team Leader will be present to assist in the process. Check-in and check-out teams will work with the hanging and tear-down teams in the placement and removal of art.
Hanging the Art: The hanging team works with the team leader to artistically display the artwork according to its appropriate category. The hanging team coordinates with the check-in team in the movement of the art from the registration desk into the show room space.
Docents: Docents are the face of the show. They greet and welcome the viewers as they come in. When viewers are present docents engage them, answer questions, and encourage sales. Docents watch for behaviors that may put the art at risk, and with the aid and support of other staff present, hospitably discourage such behaviors.
Cashiers: Cashiers take care of sales, and when not busy with sales, assist the docents. The sale procedure is relatively simple. The software "Square" is used for sales; no cash is involved. If you are familiar with "Square," this is the job for you. But even if you are not, the procedure is simple and training will be provided.
Reception Host. The reception host team leader oversees the reception and gathers the reception hosts to plan, prepare and serve the reception. The reception hosts work with the team leader to plan, prepare and serve the reception. Data is available on past receptions.
