Kale Threshing Party (and a chance to learn more about our Crowd-Breeding project signup sheet
We have been growing a few crops together with growers throughout the UK in an effort to greate some genetically diverse and promiscuously pollinating vegetable populations. One of these is Kale - 6 kale varieties were selected by our group early 2024, these were sown in 2024 as a mix, grown to flower (when they hopefully did a bunch of cross-pollinating) and over the last month, we’ve been collecting in the resulting seed. Which now needs some threshing hands (and maybe some stomping) and some wind winnowing. The seed will then be regathered from across the UK and Ireland, mixed up and redistributed for another sowing and along the way hopefully becoming more and more genetically diverse.
Come along and help get this seed ready to share again by helping thresh and clean the seed and hear a bit about our other crowd-breeding projects.
