SPECIAL NOTE: It would be very helpful if most, if not ALL, of the outreach service volunteers for this event were FEMALE as it's rather important that the girls see women active in the STEM activity being featured. Thanks for understanding!
EVENT: Annual Klein ISD "Girls in STEM" Conference @ Klein Multipurpose Center (KMPC)
WHEN: Saturday, March 23, 2024 @ 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. (Actual Event Run Time: 9:45 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.)
WHERE: Klein Multipurpose Center, 7500 Farm to Market 2920, Klein, TX 77379
SERVICE: Volunteers will assist with the initial setup, staffing and ultimate breakdown of a GCTMN booth which will serve as a place of outreach focus for our chapter during this Klein ISD hosted event to help girls better understand, explore and appreciate future careers and/or vocations in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) that are available to them. A number of STEM themed and focused booths will also be present and participate. The messaging of our booth for this year's event will be to provide general information about what a naturalist is and what she does. Further, information about the State's Texas Master Naturalist program and the role of informed volunteers in our mission will be shared. Attendees for this event are limited to female KISD students in 3rd through 8th grades. Our booth will be indoors in climate controlled conditions and KISD will provide a rectangular table and 2 chairs for our use during the event. If you have questions about the event and / or your planned volunteer outreach service, please contact David Gwin, Outreach & Communications, GCTMN at david.gwin@txgcmn.org.
