Role Overview:
Young Canada Day (YCD) Grandstand Ambassadors play a vital role in ensuring a safe, welcoming, and positive environment for the thousands of high school students who gather at the Norfolk County Fair & Horse Show on this special day. These volunteers act as friendly monitors in the Grandstand area, supporting both participants and staff to make sure the energy and excitement of YCD remains safe and enjoyable for all.
Responsibilities:
Greet students and participants with a warm, welcoming presence.
Monitor the Grandstand seating areas to ensure student safety and comfort.
Provide guidance and reminders about respectful behaviour and Fair policies.
Watch for any unsafe situations or concerns among the crowd.
Quickly alert security, staff, or police if issues or safety concerns arise.
Assist in creating a positive, spirited, and inclusive environment for all YCD participants.
Represent the Fair as a friendly, approachable, and supportive ambassador.
Skills & Qualities:
Friendly, calm, and approachable, with the ability to connect with youth.
Observant and attentive in large, high-energy crowds.
Confident in taking initiative to address situations by notifying appropriate staff/security.
Comfortable working as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Positive attitude and enthusiasm for supporting community and youth engagement.
Time Commitment:
One-day commitment on Young Canada Day – Tuesday, October 6, 2026. Morning - 8:00am - 12:00pm
Volunteers are needed during the Grandstand event, with shifts beginning prior to student arrival and ending after the program concludes.
