Description of show
An infamous tale, Sweeney Todd, an unjustly exiled barber, returns to London, seeking vengeance against the lecherous judge who framed him and ravaged his young wife. The road to revenge leads Todd to Mrs. Lovett, a resourceful proprietress of a failing pie shop, above which, he opens a new barber practice. Mrs. Lovett's luck sharply shifts when Todd's thirst for blood inspires the integration of an ingredient into her meat pies that has the people of London lining up... and the carnage has only just begun!

Reboot has permission to cast any actor in any role, provided we do not change the script. Our production of Sweeney will take place in modern-day London with a hipster aesthetic.

Show Details
The show will be performed at the Slate Theater.
Rehearsals begin in April 2019.
Tech: May 11-15, 2019.
First preview: May 16.
Performances (10) run May 17-June 1, 2019. Thurs-Sat, plus one Sunday matinee and a Monday PWYC.
$100 stipend.

Audition
Please prepare 32 bars of a song in the style of the character you'd like to portray. Does not have to be Sondheim-y! Please also prepare a contrasting monologue.

Character Descriptions
Sweeney Todd
A wrongfully imprisoned barber, Sweeney is Johanna's parent, singularly focussed on taking bloody revenge. Our story's tormented protagonist.

Mrs. Lovett
An entrepreneurial and amoral meat pie shop owner. Lovett falls in love with Todd and turns Todd's desire for revenge into a profitable business venture.

Anthony Hope
A naive and youthful sailor returning to London. Anthony helps Todd return to London and unexpectedly falls in love with Johanna.

A spritely teen, full of innocence, constantly yearning for freedom. Todd's long-lost child and Turpin's ward.
