FallTrail Steward Initiative: Adopt-a-Trail: Maintain a section of the Lynx or Partridge trail! You can find the hand tools you will need, in a bucket, in the Waxing Room, on site at GNOAC. Please return everything you use at the end of your hike/bike. This equipment will be there for the summer months and is available for use anytime you feel the urge to get out and help with trail maintenance. We are starting with Green (Partridge) and Blue (Short and Long Lynx, + Jack Rabbit). Contact Michele at manager@georgiannordic.com to adopt your section!
General: This crew sometimes gets together for a half day at a time depending on the task at hand and the season. (Most likely on a weekend). However, some tasks involve getting stuff done when you and a friend are heading out for a hike or bike anyway and can happen at any time.
Types of tasks include:
-using hand tools like clippers or hand saws to trim branches and clear brush (i.e. trail maintenance, site cleanup, small repairs, firewood stacking)
-chainsaw work and use of some heavy equipment (felling trees, brush work, operate tractor/RTV, wood splitting, etc.)
-woodworking/carpentry skills (building equipment racks, shelving/storage systems, new signage & general repairs, etc.)
-install bindings, wax skis, repair straps, inventory, etc.).
