Volunteer Role: Showmen Movie Screening Ambassador
Role Overview
Showmen Movie Screening Ambassadors help create a warm, welcoming, and enjoyable experience for guests attending the special screening of Showmen during the Norfolk County Fair & Horse Show. As one of the first people patrons interact with, volunteers play an important role in ensuring guests feel welcomed, informed, and supported throughout the event.
Whether greeting attendees at the door, assisting with admissions, helping guests find their seats, or serving refreshments, ambassadors contribute to a memorable community event celebrating the rich traditions of fairs and agriculture.
Responsibilities
Welcome guests as they arrive with a friendly and positive attitude.
Take admission and assist with ticket or guest list verification.
Provide directions and answer general questions about the event.
Usher guests to available seating and assist with accessible seating as needed.
Operate or assist with elevator access for guests requiring accessibility support.
Sell popcorn, snacks, and beverages before the screening and during intermission (if applicable).
Help maintain orderly guest flow before and after the screening.
Keep concession and entrance areas tidy and well-stocked.
Work closely with Fair staff to ensure the event runs smoothly.
Represent the Norfolk County Fair & Horse Show with professionalism, enthusiasm, and exceptional customer service.
Skills & Qualities
Friendly, outgoing, and welcoming.
Comfortable interacting with guests of all ages.
Strong communication and customer service skills.
Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
Comfortable standing for extended periods and working in a busy event environment.
Previous cash handling or concession experience is an asset but not required.
Time Commitment
Date: Wednesday October 7 & Thursday October 8
Shift: 12:00 - 3:30pm
Volunteers may be asked to arrive approximately 30 minutes before doors open for orientation, setup, and role assignments.
