Fireflies and Illuminate Ambassador Sign-Up
Please arrive by 5 pm. We will meet at the corner of Giralda and Galiano, across from Pasion del Cielo. Parking is available free of charge at Coral Gables Garage #6, located at the corner of Galiano and Aragon across from Ben & Jerry’s. Passes will be distributed at the end of the evening. Please note: This is NOT the garage located at 10 Aragon.
Due to COVID, Fireflies will not be taking passengers from the general public. At times, volunteer passengers will be assigned to a Firefly to assist in lantern retrieval, rotations, and route guidance. Passengers and riders must be over the age of 18.
Illuminate Ambassadors will act as guides for ICG visitors. They will be responsible for handing out flyers and information regarding the different exhibits. Each volunteer will be posted at an exhibit for the duration of the shift. Site Ambassadors will recommend proper COVID-19 safety guidelines to visitors, including social-distancing and the wearing of masks.
Fireflies Ambassadors will be assigned to one of 9 pedicabs. They will ride the pedicab along the pre-determined route, following all legal guidelines of a typical moving vehicle (must stop at lights, stop signs, and pedestrian cross walks.) Signs will mark the route and provide guidance to Fireflies Ambassadors. Acting as a guide for the event, Fireflies Ambassadors will tell visitors about the Fireflies art project as well as all live exhibits throughout downtown Coral Gables. Fireflies Ambassadors will ensure proper COVID-19 safety guidelines and compliance, including the wearing of masks, and for themselves. Fireflies are an artwork in of themselves. Unlike a typical bike tour, Fireflies are a procession and Fireflies Ambassadors become a part of the moving installation. At times, there are more volunteers than there are Fireflies, so Ambassadors may be reassigned to a temporary post to assist with other needs of the evening. We will do our best to allow each Firefly Ambassador a chance to ride a Firefly!
All volunteers are required to practice COVID-19 safety guidelines. Additionally, they will assist in maintaining safety standards of all visitors, recommending social-distancing, facial coverings, and sanitation.
