Volunteers are responsible for setting up, taking down and monitoring the School Street barriers during drop-off and pick-up.
Where to meet:
• Please meet your partner where the equipment is locked up (Franklin Street by the bike racks)
What you should bring:
• Mask
• Comfortable shoes as you’ll be carrying the barriers out onto the street
Equipment Locked up at School:
• 4 barriers – 2 with school street and road closed signage
• 3 safety vests
• Binder with volunteer instructions and City of Vancouver contact information (resident letters)
• All equipment will be locked with combination lock
• Hand sanitizer
• Combo: 2625 (school address)
8:35am/2:35pm: Arrive 5 minutes prior to start of closure (if possible) to unlock barriers, put on mask, vests, meet partner
8:35am/2:35pm: With partner, bring 2 barriers (one of two will have school street info signage) to each end of the school street (don’t put on road until 8:40am/2:40pm)
8:40am/2:40pm: Each volunteer will be at their designated side and move barriers out onto street, when it’s safe to do so
8:40-9:10am/2:40-3:10pm: School Street begins, answer questions or provide City of Vancouver contact info as necessary
9:10am/3:10pm: Move equipment off road, when safe to do so
9:15am/3:15pm: Put vests into Ziploc and lock all barriers and ziploc with cable and combination lock
