For the Food Rescuer shift you will be picking up edible food from local grocery stores and taking it to the Commons (55 8th Ave. SE). We meet at Sobeys at 9 am. You will normally be done by 11 am (always depends on how much food we get). We need two vehicles for food rescue. For the Market Greeter shifts we have moved the shift to start at 11:30 to allow time to go to Co-op to pick up the bread (if it is your first shift, talk to Sarah or Brianne about this). At Co-op, you will take a cart into the store with you and go directly to the bakery (we get all items that do not contain cream). Let them know you are from food rescue and they will provide the leftover bread. Co-op bread cannot be frozen so it must be given out that day (once you arrive at the Market if there is other bread then be sure to put the Co-op bread out first). Ensure you are ready to open the doors for 12:00 pm. Depending on the amount of food, and how busy it is you may be finished before 1:30 pm. You will notice the market greeter the second Thursday of every month as the market is open from 5-6:30 pm so that a different segment of the population can access the rescued food.
