General Guidelines
Please note that volunteering for the 50/50 Raffle is demanding, and requires that you be able to work under time pressure and be flexible. The guidelines that follow are intended to help the program run smoothly and make your volunteer experience a positive one. Please note that volunteers who do not adhere to the following guidelines may be asked to leave Rogers Place. If you have any questions that cannot be answered herein, please contact your organization’s volunteer coordinator (i.e., Dede, Office Administrator @ Pride Centre of Edmonton).
All volunteers must be 18 years of age or older. NO CHILDREN will be admitted with volunteers, regardless of whether or not they hold event tickets. Due to security requirements, all volunteers must present a government issued I.D. with photo.
Volunteers may NOT drink alcohol, smoke, or watch the event while working the Raffle. Rogers Place is a non-smoking facility. Volunteers will only be able to access designated areas within Rogers Place.
The Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation (EOCF) will not provide event tickets to volunteers. Tickets are not required for participation. Volunteers will not be permitted to remain in Rogers Place following the completion of their 50/50 duties unless they hold event tickets.
It is recommended that volunteers avoid bringing large bags or knapsacks to the event due to security measures in place at Rogers Place. Rogers Place security will use their discretion on whether or not to allow such items into the arena.
When and Where Should I Arrive?
Please arrive at Ford Hall in Rogers Place no later than one (1) hour before the doors open to the public, as directed by the EOCF 50/50 Coordinator.
If you are late in arriving, the EOCF may refuse to allow you to volunteer that evening, which may result in a fine for your organization.
***Doors open to the public at 7:00pm. Therefore, the absolute latest that volunteers may arrive, and still be allowed to volunteer, is 6:00pm.
What Happens on Event Night?
Upon arrival on event night you must sign in at the Rogers Place Ford Hall Entrance and remain within the designated area until the EOCF 50/50 Coordinator comes to meet you. The EOCF 50/50 Coordinator will escort you to the Count Room where you will sign in again.
Once in the Count Room the 50/50 staff will assign volunteers on a first-come, first-serve basis if the Participant’s volunteer coordinator has not already made pre-assignments.
All volunteers will sell tickets in the concourses of Rogers Place at designated locations. Sellers will be responsible for making themselves noticeable to the public in order to encourage customers to buy tickets. After ticket sales end, Sellers may be asked to assist in organizing the aprons and/or performing other duties in the Count Room.
After you are assigned your task, you will be asked to gather in the concourse for a brief volunteer orientation, after which you should be prepared to begin working. Volunteers who are sellers will not have a chance to eat prior to the doors of Rogers Place opening. Please plan to eat before you arrive or after you’ve finished selling. All other volunteers will have the opportunity to eat following the orientation.
From the 50/50 Raffle ticket sales, 50% will go to the winner; 25% to the Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation; and 25% to the Pride Centre of Edmonton.
