DC State Fair volunteer signup sheet

Set-up:
Help set up tables, tents, signs, balloons, and more!


Registration:
Entrants will be bringing their pies, vegetables, jams, etc. They need to be numbered appropriately to ensure that judging is blind, but also so that the contestant knows his/her number and so that DC State Fair knows who the contestant is by the number. Check that recipe was submitted for jam/pickle/fermented vegetable/pie/cupcake contests only. For vegetable contests, kids’ art contest, and the honey contest, will need to have some contestants fill out entry forms if they didn't sign up ahead of time.

Preparation:
Pie and cupcake prep volunteers will store and order entries as well as slice the pies and one cupcake to prepare them for swift judging.

Prep for all contests will include keeping track of all entries and ensuring that judges have the entries available at the appropriate time for judging. Prep volunteers will also help contestants claim their entries, if they would like to.


Info table volunteers:
Engage the public with information about DC State Fair, the sponsors, the contests, judging, and what's going on in general. These volunteers will encourages passers-by to donate to help support DC State Fair, as well as encourage people to sign up for the State of the Fair and Volunteer Newsletters. The volunteers will also sell DC State Fair swag during the Fair. They will also pass out pre-purchased items to Kickstarter campaign donors.


Social media outreach volunteers:
Social media outreach volunteers will help update DC State Fair’s Facebook and Twitter feeds with photos, shout-outs to winners, and more during the course of the Fair.


Clean-up:
Help tear down tables, tents, signs, balloons, etc. and carefully pack unclaimed contest entries.


Winners’ display table volunteers:
Help organize winning entries on the table, make sure no one walks off with a winning entry, and help all contestants claim their entries if they would like to.
