Cones monitor: cross-reference cones tallies with cones usage as recorded in the Private Firers’ Firing logs. Advise kiln Co-ordinator of discrepancies and when stocks reach the “re-purchase” stage. A chart of “minimum quantities” will be provided.

Props tidier: individual firers should be doing this job themselves after each firing, but an overseer will help to keep an eye on who’s playing the game and who’s just playing us. Also keep the “shard boxes” tidy.

Bisque/Glost Shelves Cleaner: Tuesdays between 1pm and 5pm; Damp sponge the bisque and glaze shelves ready for the next influx of to-be-fired pots.

Shelf shuffler: Every Wednesday move any previous firing-week’s uncollected pots to the adjacent shelf and sticker according to the roster. Move any past-the-deadline glazed pots to the roof of the sub-station.

Shelves checker (restricted to someone who does not hold a Kiln Firing Licence). Check a minimum of 6 each week on a rotational basis kiln shelves for glaze damage or lack of kiln-wash cover. Organise – where possible – to monitor all shelves over a four-week period. If any are not up to standard, search the Kiln Logs to identify the last person to have used those shelves. Report to Kiln Manager.
